IH 574 row crop: need RIMS 12X38, any ideas?

Ok, I think I may never buy an IH tractor again. I have an IH 574 gas and one rear rim rotted out, it was filled with Calcium and must have had a slow leak. I got a quote for a new rim: $1495. Yep, thats 1500 bucks for one rim, 3 grand for 2. I am guessing the tractor isn't worth that much.

Any ideas on where to get or how to rig up some rims that will work? They are 8 bolt rims, 12.5" between bolt holes, new or v good cond used.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Paul

Isn't the 574 a lower profile tractor that the traditional farmall - more like a utility but adjustable - 12X38 seems a bit tall for this tractor. I would have thought 12x34? but could be wrong

Its the row crop version, has 13.6X 38 tires (on 12 inch rims) and squared off front end

Comon' now Paul,

You're disgusted and your're a little grumpy this morning! :>)

But, I really don't think that we can blame IH for a set of rusted out rims now, do you?

Why don't you call Mike down at www.steelwheelranch.com ? Chances are he can fix you right up.

Tryin' to help,

Allan

Yes, disgusted, hot and grumpy with lots of work piling up. Course the rusted rims aren't IH fault, but $1495 a rim. That REALLy is disgusting. The dealer was embarassed to tell me.

I got a quote from another dealer at about $400 a rim. Still ridiculosu.

I tried Miller, they don't have a stock rim and the piecing one together would probably not save any money over the $400 number.

I'm also disgusted becaues the thing is blowing oil all over the place and drinks gas like a fish drinks water. So putting this money into it is killing me. Wished I'd sold it while I had the chance.

I do like the 2250 loader on it though.

I'll try steelwheel ranch, thanks for the tips guys.

Back to cutting veg and killing weeds...

Paul

Thanks for listening to me vent!

Unless you had somthing special in the U.S. you should have standard G.K.N Sanky rear rims that were the same as fitted Fords,M.F. and most other U.K. built tractors, breakers yards here are full of them and most end up in the scrap.
