I need help with the belt pulley. The outside seal was out, so I got one for it. Inside of that on the inside of the bearing, there are a lot of metal shims that look like gaskets. I thought these were gaskets until tonight. What are they, how do you get the bearing out? I'm assuming they need to have shelak (gasket sealer) put on them. I've read out the bearings in the fan assembly going out. I think they might be out on my tractor, but don't know what to look for. The tractor has a strange noise coming from the front of the engine, and I thought this could be the reason.
I really need help. Please don't tell me to get manuals, because I'm already going to get some just because I want them. Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like you have the bearing/seal retainer off the tractor? Many times you have to remove the pulley, housing, and large end cap and press the shaft out. If you have the retainer off
you can support it on vise or wood blocks and tap the bearing out with a punch working carefully from side to side and around the diameter it should come out or have a shop press it out.

I can't help you with the belt pulley, but the fan is easy to check...loosen the fan belt and feel the fan. It should rotate nice and smooth, with no wobble. I'd bet it doesn't. Luckily it's easy to pull out. Be careful of the radiator.

Good Luck
Steve

I thought I might have time to pull the radiator off tonight- I'm getting ready to give the B a quick paint job, so I can check it then. Thanks
