the oil pressure gauge (new) shows low oil pressure when the tractor gets warmed up. I put a new pump screen on, thinking it would help some but didn't. I am wondering if I need to rebuild the oil pump or is there some way to adjust the current pump so there is more pressure.

thanks in advance, john

Just tore down pump on a 169 engine. Oil pressure was pretty good considering condition of crank and bearings.Replaced brgs. and reground crank. Took pump apart, bottom was warped & gears had worn into it. Took a little while on the belt sander to get it flat again. Hope to find out the results in a few days.

Had the same problem. When I took the pump apart I found the bottom plate was warpped. It would let the oil blow out instead of pumping it. The gasket was also shot. I laid the plate down flat on some sandpaper and lept moving it back and forth until it was level. I now have 65 lbs. Watch the gasket size. VERY important. Got my info the same way. Does yours have a 2 point?

I have repaired many oil pumps like the Super C use by sanding the bottom plate flat and then reshimming with the correct gasket thickness. I also add a steel bar accross the plate where it had warped. I start with a piece about 1/2 x 1/4 the proper length and drill hole to match those on the pump. A little grinding is necessary to firt the plate. Assemble with longer bolts. I have never had a failure on a pump with this added
