Is there any trick to removing the two bearing retainers on the Super-A transmission. I've studied the I&H manual and the illustration is pretty clear but the instructions are, as usual, on the meager side. I've removed the three bolts on either side and have have done some light tapping. I also can get the right side one to rotate a bit. Is there a special puller I need or should I just take the whole thing to a transmission shop and have them take it apart for me?

Do you mean the seal retainers on the side on the differential housing?? Once you get the 3 bolts out, they pull straight out. They are a snug fit, so you need to bring them out straight. You should be able to catch something of them with a small pry. Try tapping a slot screw driver in under the lip.

Yep, them's the ones. I've sprayed some P'Blaster in from the inside. No rust evident, but I figure it can't hurt. They are in there pretty snug and I don't want to booger them up.
