I have one side of the brakes on my 200 done.I put new pads on it and replaced the seal and the two sprongs, one was broken.I put off the other side until last night since I needed the tractor to pull a hay trailer this weekend.I pulled the other side apart and as the side I just finished the seal was leaking bad,but the disc themselves looked very very good, just had some gear oil on them.In fact,I think they had been changed shortly before I got the tractor.Anyone had any luck just cleaning these up.I was thinking of getting a can of parts cleaner and soaking them for a couple of hours and then drying them out good.

Cubber,

I've had a fair amount of luck doing that on a variety of things. I've also let them soak in a strong solution of some type of greaser (such as Gunk) after I got the heavy stuff off. You might have to do it a couple times but it works most of the time from my experience.

This is what I do with band brakes but I don't know if it works with disk brakes. I would try it if I had a tractor with disk brakes! I take a propane torch and heat the bands and burn the oil out of them. Heat them untill the yellow flames die. When they cool off, they are as good as new! The heat will not harm the linnings because they are made to withstand a very high heat! If you try this, let us know if it works on your disks please.
