I know about the row crop, high crop, and wide front versions. And the different models being offered in gas, disel, and LPG. Where there other versions of the 706? Did International make a Rice Field or industrial version? Does anyone have production numbers for the different models?
Thanks,
Glen

Farmall 706 row crop; F706 gas, F706 diesel, F706 LPG, F706HC gas, F706HC diesel, F706HC LPG. International 706 standard/wheel; I706 gas, I706 diesel, I706 LPG. International 2706 Industrial; I2706 gas, I2706 diesel, I706 LPG. These are the basic models. The diesel engine was changed during production which would double the diesel models. Many options were available but they don't constitute a model change such as, all versions except the High Clear versions were available with front wheel drive. The Farmalls were available with single front, dual tricycle front, or wide front, in addition to the mentioned fwd. Three different rear axle lengths were available. All could be ordered with or without two point or three point hitch, with or without TA, with or without rockshaft, with or without IPTO, several different hydraulic pump and valve options, fenders were optional on Farmalls (early had option of none clam shell only, late had option of none, clamshell, or flattop), with no fenders or clamshell fenders F706 lights were on side of fuel tank area, on F706 with flat top fenders lights were in fenders, on I706 and I2706 lights were in grill, fenders were standard on Internationals, many tire options, and several other things.

Harold, thanks for all the info. You must have worked at the factory. What is the difference between the 706's and the 2706's? Also I came across a 706 that looks like a Rice Field Special, it has 23.1X 28 rear tires and large fenders that are not flat top or clam shell. Is this a factory model, if so do you know how many were produced and the value of one if fair condition? I also would like to know production numbers for the F706 HC disel, do you have any idea? Thanks for all the help. Glen

Glen,

The 706 you are looking at with the big curved fenders is a International 706. Those fenders are standard. It is a standard type/wheatland type/wheel type/ (called dirrerent things in different parts of country) tractor as opposed to the Farmall 706 which is a row crop tractor. The International 706 also has a standard wide front axle of different design from optional Farmall wide front axle. The International is of shorter wheel base designed for non row crop tillage work whereas the Farmall 706 wide front has more crop clearance and the tractor is designed for row crop work. The International 2706 is basicly like the International 706 except it was standard with industrial tires, different grille, heavy duty front axle, and had a number of different options than the farm version International 706. The 2706 has the same big curved fenders as the International 706 you are looking at. The Farmall 706 High Clear was the Farmall 706 with high clearance front axle and drop housings on the rear axles to give it additional crop clearance in tall bedded crops such as sugar cane. I can't give you production numbers by model or values which depend on condition and location. Guy Fay can give some production numbers.

I've never seen production numbers as far as high crops are converned for the 706-806 and later Farmall Works tractors (404/504, either). High clear was considered an option at that point, and the usual reports that list production numbers don't list options. International vs. Farmall are available, I believe gas versus Diesel, not sure about that one. Ask the IH Archives for what they've got-they'll photocopy for a fee.

Guy,

Although in production numbers, starting with the 06 series, the High Clear tractors were counted with the regular Farmall's rather than as a seperate model, however, in the IHC catalog (order book) they were listed as a seperate model, not as optional equipment.
