I have a rebuilt Super A, It runs great but has no power. It will hardly make it up a small hill. If I increase the rpms by adjusting the throttle will that give me more power? or will it screw things up more?

my recommendation would be to re-build carby, set up thrttle and gov linkages per shop manual and set ignition timing as per shop manual. Is it mag or coil ignition. I would do a tune up on it either way, new points, condensor, spark plugs, wires if they have not been replaced. I would use stranded copper spark plug wires, not radio or resistor wires.

Hi JP, Check that timing to be sure that it isn't
retarded or the distributor is off one tooth. If the timing is OK check your carburetor to see if it is running lean. Check for dirt or if the float level isn't high enough. When the timing and fuel is right, the Super A should be able to spin the wheels when under a heavy load such as plowing. The governor will maintain the engine speed around 1540 rpm's. Good Luck, Hal

rather contraditory statement, "runs great, no power" Need more info. Does the throttle function normally, idle thru full throttle.
Can you rev the engine manually at the carb and feel the governor pulling the linkage back to idle? Does it stumble, choke, stop or stall up hill? Maybe the governor is not working?
Maybe the carb too lean? Maybe the timing way off.

Your right,Did sound kinda stupid..What i mean is, it starts great, idles fine. Doesnt seam to throttle up as high as it should. When i throttle at the carb. the gov. does hold it down, It also dies going up the hill. Thanks, I appreciate your input.
