i have a 36 and a 37 F-20. none of the old timers here can agree on when they went from grey to red. can anyone out there tell me for sure. thanks, bob...

I have seen this discussed many times on this forum. If I have it right, everything up to the 1937 model year was gray (they started the 37 models in Nov 36). I believe there may have been a few exceptions but if you paint the 36 gray and the 37 red you will be as close as you can get to right.

No matter what you do, someone will tell you it is wrong after it's done.

One reference I have states that "unil 1936, all Farmalls were painted battleship grey. For the 1936 year model, the color Farmall Red was introduced." (Great American Tractors -John Deere, Farmall & Ford) By Robert Pripps and Andrew Morland....He also says that the H replaced the F-20, so go figure... kfox

Nov 1 of 1936, thats when the colour changed. If you want to know about the month and day it was made, get ahold of cowman, he can get it close. Ares was made july 30 or 31 1936.

I think it was December of 1936, so if you paint the 36 grey and the 37 red you should be alright. Hope this helps a little, RLS
