Just purchased one, what color are these tractors? I don't believe this one has ever been painted, and has some traces of yellow on the engine.

When you get decals for your tractor, if it is a I-6 it is a International, not McCormick. W, O, and OS tractors were all McCormick or McCormick Deering, but all I's were labled International. Any color is possable originally but red, orange, or yellow would have been most common on I series. Red was standard if the customer did not specify another color.

Red would have been the standard color. I have read that IH would paint the tractor any color the customer wanted, as long as he was willing to pay the extra cost involved. The industrial tractors were maybe a little different story, most of them were purchased by highway depts. construction companies, etc, and were most likely purchased several at a time, so the extra cost paint color probably did not apply. It is very possible that your tractor left the factory wearing a nice shiny coat of industrial yellow, highway orange, or similar. I have even seen the I series painted Burlington Northern green. If yours appears to have been yellow, look for industrial yellow,or Cat yellow.
