I have a 404 and the lift worked for just a few seconds when I brought it to life after 12 years and just stopped. I did change the fluid and filter before running the tractor. I need some advice on where to start looking for problems in the hydralics. I have a manual but know nothing about hydralics and some advice would be helpful in where to start. Thanks

BB

BB after you change the filter, did you fill the canister that holds the filter with oil? this is needed to insure the pump doesnt run dry. also aids in re priming the hydraulic pump. also there should be a screen around the filter. most of the time they get cloged before the filter. clean it good or replace it. good luck

BB,

If I remember right, the manual says to cycle the system 10 to 12 times to purge any trapped air.

Let's hope this is all it is.
