Recently the transmission was stuck in reverse.
With the shift lever in neutral the tractor was in reverse. When the shift lever was in 2nd 3rd or 4th it sould stall the engine when letting the clutch out. The shifter would not go into 1st or reverse. I had to remove the hydralics just to remove the shifter and associated transmission cover to fix the problem. Now the same thing has happened again. What is the problem and how do I fix it. thanks

Scott, you don't have to take the whole transmission cover off either, knock out the pin that holds the lever in the cover, then use a long screw driver to line up the rails.

Hello Scott, --- 2 / June / 2004 ---
1. Shifting gears too fast can cause it to go into reverse gear. Slow down - whenever shifting gears. 2. The gear shift has a ball-like on the bottom end of it that may be worn and be your cause of your problem. Also, there are springs on the reverse and 1st gears slide that are week and need replacing (maybe ?).
