I was looking last week on Ebay and someone had a fuel guage for an M list. This past Saterday I bought one just like it on a auction and I am wondering how rare they were? Were they really an option on an M or were they used on anther tractor and just also used on an M because they fit?

The only fuel gauge I ever had on our M's were like Oliver said, tape measure's, stick, when we were kids we always used a weed stem in the field. The gas caps with fuel gauges came in the middle 50's I think, if anyone knows for sure please let us know. Do they show pictures of these on ebay?? Keep on restoring!!!

I have a M fuel gauge that looks better than that one that came on my 460 deisel. I don't use it anymore and I'd sell it for $205. and pay the shipping. lol Bill

Paul,

I think that must have been an add-on. The Ms didn't have fuel gauges that I'm aware of.

Someone please correct if I'm wrong?

Allan

They are fairly common, but people seem to really go crazy for them on ebay. Supposedly these items are going to be reproduced in the next year or two.

What exactly is the liability issue here? I'm missing it. I have one of these on my MD and love it, it sure beats using a stick or a tape measure and dripping fuel all over, plus you can see your fuel level at a moment's notice while in motion.

Supposedly it is on the list of items that one of the repo artists has on their intentions to reproduce... I agree that there is some danger/liability issues on this product, but there are some other repo items out there that would fall in the same category.

if you all would like ill make you some m fuel gauges for 10.00 a piece or give you the spec, s so you can make your own things required 2.5 foot old broom handle tape measure and pen knife measure to bottom of tank from top. put tape on stick full measurement is full make mark half the distance of full would be half tank then split that and you got quarter and 3 quarter. mayh get lost but never gos bad with proper care how many would you like taken orders

Could it have an optional hole drilled in the top for hanging it up? Additional cost?

Oliver, I see a cottage industry here. Do you need a business manager/PR man? I am on disability and would have the time to contribute to the endeaver. I also have access to a lot of hardwood down here in the Ozarks of Missouri that we could use for raw materials, and just happen to have a wood lathe for the fabrication process. Think some more on this project and see what our new research and developement department has to say about it and drop a memo in my in-basket. Later, and we'll do lunch, Harley
