I am in the process of stripping the paint off of the body parts of my farmall H. I really don't want to blast them because I don't want to distort the tins. I have tried using paint stripper and it seams to take several coats to get down to the bare metal. The one piece I have ended up sanding the large areas. Is there a super stripper out there or some home made formula to remove paint. I would like all of your thoughts. thanks.

get a can of gasket remover, let it bubble up on the paint it'll remove anything, even decals.

i use stuff called aircraft remover and it works pretty good but if you have more than one or 2 coats you might have to reapply it again to get down to the metal.

well, this site leans to the greener things in life, but i've used the lye gravy and Frank's reverse electrolysis and they remove old paint in sheets. you can almost hose most of the paint off.

Andy, isn't there a big difference between your recipe and your friends as far a water content? Which would work best. From pictures, this sure looks to do the job. Thanks

wire wheel sandpaper and da sander to finish up.....there is no good chemical you can use that will beat manual sanding.

If your tractor has several coats of paint, you will have trouble finding a product that will work it's way through down to bare metal. Oven cleaner does a fair job, and is usually less expensive. I have also used my electric heat gun and a scraper, time consuming, but very effective.
