I am stumped. The hydralic on my 560 are weak. I have to have the tratctor at a high rpm in order to lift any thing. If i slow the engine down while attempting to lift something it will start to lower back down. I have changed the filter, new oil, it took the suction line off to make sure it was not plugged or leaking. Redone the entire regulator and safety block. I think the only thing left it the pump. I am taking it out tonight. What is the real problem?

Sounds like a leak somewhere inside. Does your power steering work at low speeds? If the p/s is ok then I would say it is something besides the pump.

It does turn harder when it is at a lower engine speed

Sure could be the pump. I was wondering though, could it be the cylinder? Do you have an implement you can raise with one of your remotes? This could provide a good clue. If the remote operated implement drifts down too, I would look at the components common to both.(pump etc...)
Good Luck.

bryan: since you rebuilt the regulator block, the only thing left to do based on the symptoms you describe is to replace the pump.

If you overlooked the O-ring seal on the regulator piston during the block rebuild, it will not produce the symptoms you describe IF your pump is A-ONE.

Steel Wheel Ranch has rebuilt pumps for $250. They are a breeze to change out--IMO one of the good things IH did for pump serviceability. Just went through a hydraulic system rehab on our 460. For a complete report, go to our web site and read about all the hair-pullin' I went thru to resolve a bad hydraulic system. You'll find a link to Steel Wheel Ranch there, too.

Don't overlook the o-ring around the piston in the hydraulic check block.that is a common failure in that tractor and is easy to fix for less than a dollar and about 10 minutes of your time.

Probably the pump. It's old enough to need replaced. New one at IHC is around $400.00. Take-out, bench tested at Cook Implement, Clinton, Mo. $250.00, Harley

"Take-out" meaning removed from a parts tractor. Used, not rebuilt.
"Bench tested" meaning the "take-out" pump was tested to make sure it was good on a bench.

You don't send your pump anywhere, unless there is a core charge and you want your money back.
