Well I am getting alittle closer every day to hitting the field with my Super A. I am making a drive south tommorrow to Salem OR to look at more cultivator parts. Any ideas on fair value would really help. I hope to find shovels of different types as well as a vegetable tool bar and shields. Thanks in advance for the info.

Mike,

The cultivators for my H and SC cost between $3 and $50. None of them were complete or perfect. I had to buy several. New shovels run $10 to $15 each. Clamps are about $20.

If you come across any extra squash knives or side knives, I am looking for some for my SC.

Greg

Can you describe the squash knives a little more. I got your request a little late to really get anything done and this fellow doesnt want to deal long distance, but if I know what I am looking for I would be happy to keep my eyes open for them.

A squash knife looks like a half sweep that is 10"-18" wide. The idea is to reach in and cultivate under the squash or tomato vines after they have started to sprawl. The cultivator manual for M and H shows IH's version of a knife weeder at the end of the attachments section (pg. 152).

Thanks for looking.

Greg

OK Half sweep. I think we need some more common language. A half sweep to me is 1/2 shovel or duck foot, same duck foot shape only half. I did purchase and he does have more "carrot knives" big L shaped deals that have a kind of built in shield and also noticed alot of similar shovels that curve and would actually carry dirtback toward the row. A picture would be worth a thousand words here, the only manual I have is for the 144.

Mike: Cultivator parts are hard to nail down on value. What may be valuable in one part of country may be worthless elsewhere. Only advice I can give is your own good judgement. I have corresponded enough with you, I am confidant with that. You have the lift frames that mount on tractor and those are the item that can put a drain on a pocket book. When it comes to tool bars just keep aware of steel prices, as they are quite easy to fabricate.

Mike:

If you have or come across any spare "wedge bolts" either reply or drop me an e-mail. I need some for my F-12 cultivator.

Dan
