Looking at a 1976 Farmall 140 that has fresh paint, half-worn rear tires, deluxe seat, single point hitch, cultivators and fertilizer attachment. Appears to be in tip-top cherry condition. The owner wants $6000. That sounds sky high. What have you seen similar 140's getting lately??
Thanks in advance,
Bill Batten

Hi saw your posts, I live in pleasant garden. I"ve found equipment at leinback equipment in winston salem. Last time I was there ,3 months ago, they had 3 or 4 single fast hitch plows, a harrow, scrape blades, etc. Some stuff they are proud of, others are reasonable. The jdeere place in asheboro had a 140 & 2 cubs 2 months ago. They were gone last trip there. they wanted 3800 or 4800 (I forgot) for a 140 that started fine had a manifold leak and look rough as h... Might also look at Joe's Tractor in thomasville. He sometimes has some old farmall stuff

Bill: You will not get mine for that money, and it's only a 1963. Same equipment.

Bill,

I've seen running 140's with implements go for under $4000, but I've also seen several asking prices up to $6000 when restored or very clean.
I think you can get a better deal than the $6k--you need to determine exactly what you need as far as implements and what you're willing to accept as far as condition--mechanical and/or cosmetic...What state/area are you located in?

Kevin,
Thanks for your response. I live in North Carolina.

Where do you go for a dual gang disk harrow for single point hitch? We had a 5 1/2 foot wide disk harrow for our 140 when I was a boy. Also, where do you go for a dual bottom plow with single point hitch?
Thanks,
Bill

I live near Greensboro. Check the Agricultural Review And take your time. There are alot of 140s here. Many tobacco farmers have them and they are often sold at estate sales with or without equipment.

Jim, I live just south of you in Randolph County. Thanks for the Agricultural Review suggestion.
