I had a wiring question, and I got the suggestion quoted below, (to find a pertinent wiring diagram), but the "search" feature has been down for several days.
Can anybody throw this link in a reply?

"Look in archive for postings from Bob M.
There are many posts with a link to his website where you will find the wiring diagram for the super A and many more."

Bob, I asked my original question about my Super A wiring because my ammeter was reading backward. "brtex" already answered it for me, but your diagram confirmed it.
Two questions:
When I traced my wiring, I didn't see the ballast resistor. Is it necessary, and should I add one if it's truly not there (after I take a closer look)?
How is the electricity from the alternator 'regulated', so the battery doesn't get cooked?

Pete - If your coil is internally ballasted (a so called "12 volt" coil) it doesn't require an external resistor. However if you still have a 6 volt resistor, running it on 12 volts will burn out the points prematurely, also will overheat and ruin the coil after a while.

How to tell whether the coil is 6 or 12 volt? Look to see if it's marked "12 volt" on the outside. If not marked, check the current draw with the engine stopped and the switch on. 2 - 3 amps means it's internally ballasted; 4 - 6 amps means you need a ballast resistor. Or simply feel the coil after the engine's run 10 - 15 minutes - if the coil is hot to the touch you need to add a resistor!

Regarding your single wire alternator question, these units have a regulator inside.
