I recently bought my first tractor, a Farmall cub lo-boy, I believe it is a 57' after comparing it to others pictured on websites. I has been sitting out doors and subject to our relatively mild northern calfornia weather for about six years. It had good anti-freeze in it and the crank case was full and the oil seems quite clean. The carb float seems stuck; gas trickles out of the carb through the air intake. I have taken the carb apart and cleaned it out. I have had no luck in trying to get it to fire. I am hoping to get some pointers on where to look and methods of testing. I know it ran very good when parked. Also a good suplier recomendation for parts would be helpful. Thanks for your help.

P.S. stock 6V system, & should I use a lead additive?

Joe

Most likely, the points have glazed over. Remove the distributor cap and burnish the points. Your ignition switch could also be dirty or glazed as well. If you have a voltmeter, check to see if you have voltage to the coil when the switch is on.

Thanks, I'll check those items tonight.
