I don't see many two row cultivators at sales any more around here (Iowa & Nebraska). If you happen to find one at a sale they seem to go pretty cheap. I have a two row cultivator that I put on an H to take care of my sweet corn patch. A rear mounted cultivator has a big advantage in that it will not leave the tire tracks like the front mount cultivator will. Ease of mounting the 3 point is a big advantage too.

Hi Bob,

Sounds like you just don't have the rear part of that front mounted cultivator.

The rear part attachment ran separate tool-bars & shanks down the middle and at both wheel tracks.

They mounted on the drawbar attaching points and were lifted by rods/cushion springs going up to the main lifting tubes.

Unless of course, you are talking about a completely different outfit than what I remember.

Yes, front and rear mount cultivators were usually sold together. We always put sweeps behind the rear wheels to get rid of wheel tracks. Typically the front sweeps were run closer to the rows, while the rear ones just got what the front missed. We often removed the rear section and replaced it with the drawbar to pull tillage implements. With the advent of herbicides, the front mount is not as important as it used to be.

I have put in thousands of hours on H and M with 2 and 4 row front mount cultivators and hundreds on SM with 2 and 4 row 3 point cultivators. No way I will ever use a front mount again. The front mount four rows are man killers especialy without power steering. Just my opinion.
