I would like to know what the weight of a 1938 F-20 is and what a 1930 10-20 weighs. I have hauled the 10-20 with my trailer ok and am looking to haul back the F-20 but need to know how much more it weighs.

I purchased a wide rear F-20 and hauled it back over 300 miles on my trailer with a slight modification. The wide (standard) rear end of the F-20 doesn't normally fit between the fender wells of most trailers, mine included. It was about 6" too wide. I built a bed extension of several oak 2x10s that span the width of the trailer, from the fenders to the rear of the trailer. It was thru bolted to the bed in several places. I was able to pull the F-20 up to the fenders and then tie it down. This, at least on my trailer, made the trailer tounge light, which is bad for towing. I had brought along about 900# of sand bags to counter weight the front of the trailer, and all worked well on the way home. Still a heavy load, but it tracked well.

Thanks for the tip on the extra weight, my tractor like yours it the wide rear end and I have a plan that is similar to yours that I think will work well.

How wide is the F-20? Is it a narrow tread? Are you using a standard 2 axel trailer?

Its the wide rear end and I plan on building up a platform because it is just a bit too wide for the fenders. The trailer is a 2 axle trailer and I think I can get it far enough forward so that it will have enough weight forward to make it travel well.

I took one wheel off My F-30 and slid the tractor forward with the bull gear housing resting on a treated 2x4. I had the tractor resting on the very back of the trailer with a short piece of cross tie under the back of the trailer to keep it stable while I took the left rear wheel off. I already had the right rear wheel lined up to just miss the right fender well. after I got the left wheeel off, I lowered the tractor bull gear housing down on the piece of treated wood, then used a chain hoist to pull the tractor forward to center the load and the piece of treated wood stayed with the bull gear housing and slid on the wood deck. I put the left rear wheel under the tractor just behind the front wheels. I pulled that trailer 450 miles from Macon county Mo. to Madison county Tn. on a 2 axel car hauler trailer with 2 3500 lb axels. I pulled it with a 1/2 ton ford truck. the engine is a 300 cui 6 cyl in front of a 5 spd transmission. That truck knew it had a load. The trailer blew 2 tires on the way, 0ne at the first 50 miles and one at the last 50 miles. --Walt--
