I'm finishing up putting a live hydraulic pump from a farmall 300 on my H. Is there a specific way i should prime the hydraulic system? I would appreciate any insight, i don't want to screw anything up.

thanks

I'd like to get a live system on my H. What's the system from the 300 like? Is it a bolt-on addition to your H or did you need to do some modification to the H to get it to fit? Any pictures?

Thanks.

a pump from a 300 bolts on in front of the distributor and runs off the timing gear. in order for it to bolt up, you need a timing cover from a 300 as well. it is also recomended to use a timing gear off of a 300. I'm using the belly pump for a resevour. i don't have any pics, but there are pics and other information on this sight from others that have done the same thing.

The way I have primed this pump on my 400 is to remove the plug on the top of the pump and fill it with hydraulic oil. It can be messy if you don't have a small funnel. I used a squirt-type oil can to fill the pump. Repeat as needed untill the hyd system comes "online."

TC If the pump is good and you put oil in the pump before you connected the lines it should prime it's self if not you could put some air pressure on the res fill.
