MTA-Problem

I was using my MTA yesterday and it was running very well until at one point I released the clutch and heard a bang from the clutch area. In gear I can't bear to release the clutch to even move the tractor because of the horrible cruntching sound going on in that area. I shut it down and towed it home. I realize its not easy to diagnose a problem from this discription but does anyone have an idea what might have happened?
Thank You.

Are you sure it was from the clutch housing? Did you just shift before it happened? Sometimes as the end of the shifter wears, they get into two gears at once, then you've got broken gears. Start out by removing the inspection cover from the bottom of the clutch housing, not because a clutch problem is likely, but really just because it's easy to remove, a good place to start. If you don't see anything obviosly wrong there, then it's time to drain the rear end and remove the transmission cover.

Thanks K.B. I will look there your response is appreciated. I guess novel idea guy wasn't concerned about my problem. This breakdown may be and probably is a big deal and I use this tractor regualarly its not just a show toy.

Does it really matter what's wrong? You need to tear it open anyway.
