I got my 1940 H home today after picking it up and I'll try to post a picture. It's kinda rough but I hope to make her well again. I'll probably need a lot of advice from you folks! The Cat in the background is my 1950 D6. Two classics I think!

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm new to this restoration business but have been working on tractors and equipment for many years. I guess I've done almost everything except paint (I hate painting!)

Jimmy, you're right about the trees. I really don't mess with them much; they're dangerous even with a guard. I cut the bigger ones down and then stump it. It's also too hard on the tractor; this is probably the only one I'll ever own and I'm not gonna' kill it messing with a dadgum sweetgum!

Tommy I grew up on an 1948 H and a 1951 Super A. In the 50's in the eary 60's Dad bought a D6 8U I think it was a 1949. If you are going to be pushing trees a tree pusher will be worth what it cost, and I will beg you to put a brush cab on it, it can save your life. Dads had rock crusher wire on the back of the cab one day I had gone some where with my Brother in Law Dad was going to Milk that night when we got home he has just got to the house. He was pushing a tree that had a grape vine in it and a tree behind him also the stump was between them when the tree went over the vine broke at the stump, and the jagded edge hit wire with such force I came on thru and hit him behind the ear. He was knocked out for a while, several stiches inside and out side of his ear. He said he had shut it off but when we went back the next day the blade had buried its self and killed the tractor. He was just plane being looked out for by a higher power.

Tommy: that's one great looking H! I have a '51 H (now restored) and yours looks a TON better than mine did when i got it. You can never go wrong with an H i think -- Jeff

Tommy,

I don't think she is rough at all. Just a grand old queen without her makeup on is all.

Ya did good!!
