I'm looking for a steering box for a Farmall 140 made between 1972-1974. I would appreciate it if anyone would let me know where I might find one. School teacher in Oklahoma

Michele: I don't think you need to be that precise in the years you asked for. To my knowledge that steering box never changed from 1952 Super A through 100, 130 all the way to the end of 140 production in 1979. Most any tractor wrecker should have or be able to get one. A good one will not be cheap. Could run $500.

Thanks for your response. I bought my 140 3 years ago and use it at my small horse facility. It's such a good little tractor. It'll start in 10 degree weather as easily as it starts in 80 degree weather. Again, thanks for your response.

If you are trying to get slack out of the steering you might replace the bearing, sleeves, and woodruff key, and a clip. I am doing this to 2 tractors I have (100) and (130). Cost about $85 per tractor. There is a place in Tyler, Texas, Frank's Tractor, that told me he had steering box for $500.
I can do a lot of rebuilding for that price. If you want the prices and numbers on the bearing, Woodruff key, sleeves and clip, I will be glad to give them to you.The sleeves have to be bought through a dealer only. I bought most of the parts at a bearing supply house. Good luck.
