What would make the vertical shaft on an H bolster wear into the top steering gearbox cover? The shaft is about 1/4 inch above the steering gearbox housing. This is on a 1941 H.

Save your time and money and go to a salvage yard and get a front end, I recently got an H that you could hardly turn the tires rubbed front casting, for a 100 bucks I picked up a good one.

i just redid the frontend of an h and there is a thick spacer washer under the thrust bearing that was worn thin, you probably need this washer and a new bearing like dave said.
