I have a 1939 M serial# 2590 and I am wondering if I will hurt the value if I add power steering, schwarts wide front and live hydralics. I would like to add a loader and use this tractor but being the first year of an M I am wondering it this is a better tractor to leave origanal and restore. I do not plan on selling it so but dont want to hurt the value down the line if I ever do.

It's your tractor, do with it as you please. Personally, I don't think you will decrease the value one little bit, and the tractor will be much more user friendly. If you ever do sell it, and the buyer wants it to be original, it would not be at all hard to just remove the items you have put on it. The only other thing to consider here- is the M 100% original and in good condition? If it is, you may be money ahead to consider selling it now and purchase another M to use.

This M is all original but I need to find a good platform and the right seat (platform is broke out around the brake pedel and has a 400 style seat welded to the platform). It does need paint and some work done with the tin work. As far as I can tell it does have the correct engine and does run real good.

Remember that the 39 had a different platform from all the later models. The only "damage" you will be doing with the rest of your modifications is cutting the steering shaft. Keep your original front end.
