The reverse idler of my IH-454 seems to be broken, but how can I fix it? Is splitting the gear box the only way or can I change the reverse idler gears through the plates?

Could you please help,

Matthew

Matthew, You had better find a manual for that thing. Try binder books.

Thanks for your comments,

I have 2 Interrec -manuals and I have got confirmation from 2 different experts that I can do this through the cover.

I was surprised that no one from this list knew this.

Matthew.

Hi, it is not a common failure on this model.

Bernard Le Mecano from Canada would have known
but he does appear to visit this site frequently.

You can easily change the reverse idler gear (IH 454, 475, 574 and 674) just opening the hydraylic cover plate, you do not have to split the tractor.

Hope this helps

Ben
