I need to cultivate my garden with my cub before I take time to replace the push-pull switch which has broken in half. What can I wire straight from the battery to what part of the ignition system to run the tractor? ( coil, distributor,etc.)Thanks. Right now I have battery pos. cable disconnected.

Hook a wire from the post on the starter to the side of the coil that comes from the switch.I have a setup I made with a couple of alligator clips for that purpose. The starter is easier to get to than the battery.

If you have battery ignition, and a 6 volt positive ground system you can run a jumper from the battery negative post to the negative coil primary terminal. If your system is negative ground, it will be positive post to positive terminal on the coil. Your system should be positive ground if it is 6 volt but many got switched over the years. If it is 12 volt, it will be negative ground so run positive to positive. As usual, when by-passing any component, use extreme caution. You could temporarily stick a toggle switch into the dashboard and wire it. There are only 2 connections.

Carl:

I am really lousy at electrical problems and schematics, but ---- there are schematics around.
