More than likely the only thing wrong with your tractor is that the cover on the oil pump is warped. Take a window glass and some sand paper and sand the cover until it is true.

Thanks for all the great info. I am a little lost on the oli pump cover. Is it on the pump inside the oil pan? It has pretty good pressure for about 30 minutes. Then it starts to fall. Can I access the oil pump by just taking the oil pan off? If it were the bearings it can be done without splitting the tractor. correct? Thanks

Rod brgs.$40-45(set of four) Main brgs. $60-70. If you have rod & main brg. journals turned, Mach. work and brgs. will cost $200 or better. Oil pumps are expensive, but give very little trouble. Repair pump in the manner ED says.

I went though this 3 years ago, bearing sets were about $40 ea. ....priced a new pump at the dealer, very very expensive...I ended up buying a new pressure relief spring, a couple of shim gaskets for the bottom of the pump...I had to "hand dress" (flat file) the bottom casting as it was badly warped....now I have 60lbs pressure... take your time and plasti-gauge the bearings, and the oil pump

ITS IN THE OIL PUMP.....AFTER YOU TAKE THE OIL PUMP OFF, LOOK VERY CLOSELY AT THE BOTTOM PLATE, SEE IF IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS LEAKING (ACTUALLY SUCKING).....THEN TAKE THE PLATE OFF TO SEE IF A PORTION OF THE GASKET IS MISSING....LAY THE PLATE ON A PIECE OF WINDOW GLASS, SEE IF A .002 FEELER GAUGE WILL SLIDE UNDER IT AS YOU ARE PRESSING DOWN ON IT...MY PUMP WAS OBVIOUSLY WARPED (COULD SEE IT WITH THE NAKED EYE)....THE PUMP PLATE USUALLY WARPS WHERE THE PRESSURE RELIEF SPRING PUSHES DOWN ON THE PLATE (THE PLATE ONLY HAS 4 BOLTS, I THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF IH ADDED ONE MORE BOLT).....2 BOLTS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BLOCK HOLD THE PUMP ON.....YOU WILL NEED A REPAIR MANUAL, FIND ONE SOMEWHERE....KEEP IT NEXT TO YOUR TOILET, STUDY IT REAL GOOD, THEN DIVE IN !! (to the tractor not the toilet)....GOOD LUCK, HOLLER IF YOU GET STUCK, ED

Thanks. Any idea how much labor or time it will take for repair? Does it have to be split? Thanks

it took me a couple of hours on the bearing replacement, i did'nt split the tractor..... about the same time on the oil pump, of course I micrometer checked the crank(more time), cleaned and re-painted the oil pan (more time), plasti-gauged every thing (more time), soaked the oil pick tube and cleaned (more time)..... If you're planning on paying a pro to do this, it could be expensive
