I have a 784 that is stuck in reverse, but the shifter shows low range. I cannot move the shifter to the reverse position. In the high range position, the tractor just sounds as though there is a load on it, but won't move. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Hi Grant,

I have a 674 and this same thing happened to me last night. I don't know if our tractors are similar or not, but mine has the shifters next your left leg. What I found was that the linkage at the bottom part of the shifter(about a foot down below the handle) for high/low range, neutral and reverse had gotten out of position. I stuck my hand in there and wiggled the linkage around and it popped back in place with no damage done. Hope this is all that's wrong with yours. Good luck!
