Guy Fay's data book indicates that diesels were assembled at both plants.

Look at a SM, SMTA parts book.No parts that only
a diesel uses will be listed with a L prefix.
Looked at a lot of SM at showes, salvage yards and
other places,never found a Louisville SMD.Anything
is possible though.

I do not know. Guy's book says: SMD("L" added for Louisville production). This is for chassis prefixes and is listed under the description for the Super MD. Perhaps it is a typo, as there were different serial number ranges for the two plants, which should be listed in the parts manual. I believe all MTA's and MDTA's were assembled at the Farmall plant.

Never found any information that a diesel was assembled there.
