Thanks for the replies, I put new wires and battery terminals and put the battery charger on , it will turn over alot faster now but still had to turn over for a long time to start. I pumped the hand fuel pump a few times and it started immediately. I tried this several times throughout the day and each time started when I did this but wouldn't if I didnt. I guess it wouldn't be to hard to do this every time I started it but any ideas what is causing this? Thanks

Tom just a question. When you bring it down from rated speed to idle does it die?

Well you know if it dies when you come from high to low idle it's time for a fuel injeciton pump.

I agree. You've got an air leak, and you're losing prime on the pump.

Tom: Sounds as though the fuel injection system is taking in air. You must have a leak somewhere in system. It could be anywhere between fuel tank and injection pump or even within the pump. If the tractor is working well when running, then air must enter during time engine not running. Or you have a leak that could get a whole lot worse. Look for cracked lines, cracked filter base, bad seal on filter. Had a Cat once performance was terrible, after some looking we discovered gasket behind inspection plate for timing was leaking. Not enough to allow fuel out but did let air in.

i'd start with the filters, maybe too tight and doing in the gasket, or the base could have old gasket stuck to it, are the bleeders tight?
