My M is stuck and I'm looking for suggestions as to how to free it. I have put WD40 in the plug holes and allowed it to penetrate for a couple of days. I then towed it behind my pick-up on my gravel driveway popping the clutch. This didn't work! The engine starter crank is broken (nut that was welded on broke off) and I'm at a loss as to how to free the motor. I have new pistons and sleeves but was hoping that would be a last resort. Any suggestions? Thanks

Last resort at my place, Weld a hydraulic hose end on the base of a spark plug. Connect it to another tractor with a good hydraulic system. use a long hose and stand back It will either come loose or it will push sleeve and piston down, then you have a mess. done it to a W9 gas.I normaly remove the head first you can tell whether it is worth the effort to unstik it.

WD-40 is a lousy penetrant. Onliest good thing about it is that its pretty cheap. Not a cheap as diesel fuel though which is a better penetrant.
PB blaster is best but most expensive.

The trick we always used was put PB Blaster in the cylinders like you have with the WD40 and then place a large pipe wrenck on the end of the crank. Slide a three foot cheater pipe on it and then hang a 12" cement block on it for constant pressure. Leave it sit for awhile and that always seemed to work for us.

How long has she been stuck? The SM I have now was stuck and I put gallons of diesel into the cylinders. Budged just a hair. Worked and worked. Tried to move it by turning the pto with a pipe. Still no good. Had the head off. Cylinders clean. Pulled the pan, oil pump wasn't stuck. Pulled the front cover, not there. I was getting frustrated, it just didn't make sense. Looked from the bottom side of the block, surface rust on the bottom of the middle two cylinders. Knocked the pistons out and honed it, runs like a champ. Just depends on how bad your situation is. Also have an A that was stuck. Dad and I just wanted to see if it'd run, put the old head gasket back on w/ coppercoat. Been running since '97. Some of these old motors are really tough.

I'm unsure how long it's been stuck because I just purchased it. I had the oil pan off and the oil pump was gummed up but fine. I looked up into the cylinders and they looked okay. I guess I'll have to be patient and use the suggestions listed.

Check the archives on unsticking stuck engines. There have been dozens of discussions on this topic in the last 5 or so years.
