330U with brush hog

When I run my tractor with the brush hog what gear do i have to be in? or should i be in? When i start to mow the power decreases and almost want to stall. What I'm I doing wrong?

r4etired is right,again. You've only got 35 h.p. If your on flat ground, mowing it often, I would think a 5' cutter is ok, probably 6' too. If on steeper ground, tall grass or brush, the 5' will be all the 330 wants. Don't have a 330, but we have a few 300/350's with 42-44 hp. In tall, thick grass the 300 will have to be run in 1st gear with T/A in low. And this tractor is in excellent condition, good engine with good compression.

If your going to use a rotary mower behind the 135cid you should start mowing early and mow often, the tractor will be a lot happier

well, I don't know how big a bush hog you are trying to run but a 330 should handle the 5 or 6 ft cut with ease. Maybe you need a tune-up. new points, plugs, etc.

start in first gear and if all is going well shift up to second.
