Bought the C,kept the H.I had bought the H with intentions of working it,mainly running the bushhog over the feild, occasionally pulling the rake, just odds and ends I was using my M for.Well I got th C unloaded, and piddled with it awhile, and enjoyed myself for a change.Well, time came to get back to work so I fired up the old H and headed back into the feild.I was bushhoging and noticed a load cluck and at first thought it was the bushhog hitting the ground so I continued cutting and then there was a jerk so I immediately stopped the tractor. As the bushog was slowing I head the awfulest racket coming from the tranny and when the hog stopped,so did the racket,so I assumed PTO.I pushed the PTO rod down and eased the clutch out,the tranny was hollering prety bad when I did that so I limped back to the shop.by the time I got back smoke was vcoming out of the shifter.I pulled the top,AGAIN, and found both 4th gears ate up,the rest looked fine. Now,my question is,what would have wore 4th out?I was cutting in 3rd.All the bearing in there are/were new and I put it all back together right.@nd what would the PTO have to with ruinning $th gear if i was in 3rd?Thanks guys!

Wow Cubber. Thats bad news. I can emagine how you feel after doing all that work. I remember the trepidation I felt the 1st time I ran my 400 after having her split in 3rds.
I am real sorry to hear what happened with your H.
Hope you get her back up soon.

Found out why 4th was chewed up,BENT FORK,just enough to let the two gears touch,What makes me mad about that is I repalced both gears and the fork earlier for the same reason.I learned my lesson on that,TRIPLE check the clearance. Now,we also pulled the PTO out,no problems there.Put everything back toghether and just started it up sitting there, well we mainly just stuck everything back together and left off wha twe didnt need to let it sit, steering and such.AFtre running for about 10 minutes, the smoke started coming out of the shifter hole again and the racket was still there. Both shafts seem t ospin freely, except the bottom one which only moves so far the stops and then goes back the other wya so far,but seems to move freely.Oh,we tapped the fork back as staright as we could get but the gears were not touching then.

Meant top shaft will only move so far, with clutch pdeal in,and spin constant mesh gear, bottom shaft moves freely. How mqany shims are suppose to be at the back of the top shaft,I remember my M having them,I think three, but the H has none.
