I researched the archives and it looks like gene b and others recommend the high heat alum paint as a sealer but I also have other questions about my M head. It has the 4" pistons, does it take a larger head gasket? Are some small water passage cracks normal? (I saw no evidence of leaks prior to valve job). Head torq spec is 100 lbs., do you guys usually go a little more? Thanks!

Head gaskets are standard out to 4 and 1/8th. No water jacket cracks aren't normal. I would think that they could run on you. I reuse head gaskets and add the high temp. gasket maker. I also add an extra 5 psi of torque. Also make sure the gasket isn't broken anywhere.

Head torque for the M is 110 ft lbs, you shouldn't need to go any tighter, it's the C113, 123,etc heads that give trouble.

What kind of trouble should I look out for on the C123 heads? I'm assembling my 200 engine now.
