This is something else that I haven't quite figured out how it does what it does. From previous posts on this subject, the device you are mentioning has a loop/tee handle with several notches along the bar the loop handle is attached to? What this does is adjust the height of the entire hitch/fast hitch arms. From semi-studying our 460, this things appears to change the plane elevation of the arms. This is used for plow depth. Notice how the front single mounting point for the fast hitch pivots higher and lower when you select different notches? If you think about it, simply raising and lowering the fast hitch cylinder for plow depth is not the ideal thing--the plows will be not parallel with respect to the ground. This device you are mentioning keeps the arms parallel to the ground and therefore keeps all the plow bottoms at an even depth. Frankly, I have had little seat time in the 460 when plowing to fully explore this. Will do someday. Ever wonder how many hours IH burned to noodle-out all this bracketry and pivotry? It appears my brother's 400 achieves this function with another hydraulic cylinder. He's about ready to finish up the re-hab of his 400. The last thing he's doing is painting the hitch pieces/parts. They are scattered all over the shop--appears to be enough iron in that hitch to fill a small pickup. Compare what IH conceived for a hitch to what Mr. Ferguson concocted in the 1930s.
