Hello, I'm somewhat new at working on tractors. The carburetor would flood after shutting down the tractor. I took it completely apart, cleaned and flushed it out, and put it back together. After that, there was no flooding and the tractor ran great. It was still working well a week later. Then, I ran the throttle high for about a minute and then shut down the tractor and it began dripping again. Did it burn up all the gas in the bowl, the float dropped, and the needle came out causing it to flood? Should I bend the float adjusting tab a little so the float can't drop enough for the needle to come out? These are just my guesses, but I thought I'd ask before I took the carburetor apart again.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Either the float level is off, and not putting enough pressure on the needle seat to shut off the fuel flow from the line, just bend the small tab on the float, or the float pin that holds the float to the carb has came out. Flooding out the bowl is mostly the float adjustment, I usually set the float to where it just drops off the seat to open the needle. Barely enough to move the needle off the seat. Just bend the small tab on the float. With the carb upside down off the tractor, the float should sit level when closed, when it opens, it dont take much movement from the float to open the needle. The float may drop about 1/4 inch when open. May not be the exact measurement, but a close comparrison. Hope this helps. ChadS
