I wanted to remove a pulley assembly from Farmall H to make more room to put on a propane tank. Does a gear come out with the assembly and could I put on a flat plate to cover the hole? Any help greatly appreciated.

You will have to make your own gasket, or use sealer as suggested above, as the gasket is no longer available.

My dealer had two alternative sources for NOS obsolete parts. One was the dealer network and the other was some outfit that had bought up a bunch of parts( I think). Sounds like your partsman might be too new.

Just curious, I like to use gaskets when possible. For the belt pulley, I just used some permatex stuff sealer, no leaks yet. By the way, don't ever forget to put the plug in the rear back in like I did, thought it was my gasket, but oil flows pretty good through a half inch hole. Simply forgot that the plug was rotten and did not replace it, until I wondered where the puddle was coming from.
