Havent got an owners manual yet and this is my first Farmall. I have a 340 row crop. For general use with the loader and doing chores should the TA lever be forward (D) or back (TA). Thanks

There's no hard-and-fast rule for what position the TA should be in for a particular chore, except for going downhill. In that case, definitely kick the TA lever ahead. I can remember learning this the hard way when raking with the 560 for the first time, being used to the hydraulic TA on a 756 that held going downhill...

If pulling the TA lever back makes the tractor go at a comfortable speed for doing loader work, then by all means pull it. That's what it's there for.

Lincoln The TA is a high low shift on the go forward is high back is low. for light work as you said it should be forward and never cost down hill with it back never shift it back after you start down hill so as to cost, if you are plowing or disking down you can have the lever back.
