Dealing on an 806 that is owned by a retired farmer and has not been used much the last 10 years. Really in good shape and I would buy it but it has the old RD injector pump and the local IH mechanic says you cannot buy parts for this pump anymore other than going to a salvage yard. What should I do?? Thanks. PS he wants 5500 dollars.

You can still get parts for the IH RD pumps. A diesel shop in Iowa called Economy Diesel aka "Central Fuel Injection" (Estherville, Iowa) still repairs these pumps for a reasonble fee.

RD pumps are fine to use, but they tolerate ZERO water in the fuel, so be sure your fuel supply is CLEAN!!

I have an 806D with one of those RD pumps. No, you cannot get any parts for them and I am told that they cannot even be rebuilt now.

A mechanic from Scheid Diesel (Effingham, see link) told me that it is possible that they can find all the parts to swap the RD pump over to the Roosamaster replacement. This swap used to be available in a kit, but the kit was discontinued.

About the price..... .. ya got me! That seems sorta high, but then my 806D is not in more than just "fair condition" and it would take more than that for me to let go of mine. I just use it too much!

I had 2 806's with RD Pumps and now have one of them with a roosa-master pump. It was changed over from the RD and all parts are available at salvage yards and if set right it will pull or outpull a RD Pump 806. I would not be afraid to run the RD pump till it quit though
