Installing One Piece Crank Seal -- Dumb Question

The rear crank seal on my 504 is a single piece seal and the service manual says that I need a special tool to install it. Looks like a sleave of some sort in the pictures. The Case dealer says he doesn't have one and doesn't know where to get one. Anyone heard of such a tool and is it necessary?

Thanks

Hi RC,

All one piece seals are "supposed" to be installed using the proper tool.

However, if you are very careful, they can be gently tapped into place using a light hammer. Lube the riding surface & seal lip before you start in on.

Thanks Allan.

I was hoping I could do it without the tool. I wonder why the mechanics at the IH dealership where I ordered the part didn't suggest that. They told me that since they did not have the tool they would not be able to install a crank seal on a 504--hard for me to beleive.
