Is there anyway to get Farmall part numbers online. I need some bearings which I know I can cross reference but cannot get my dealer to give me the numbers. I do not want to pay there high price for bearings and seals.

I just got done changing the outer bull cage bearing. I went through the PTo. Its the first time I have done it and I thought it was pretty simple. I did it by myself and the hardest part was getting the axle lined back up with the bull gear. I took a piece of oak 8" long and put it between the bull gears and put a 1/4" shim under the bull gear and the axle slid in pretty easy. Hope this helps anyone else. Now all I have to do is fill it with oil and get my brake drum turned. Thank you all for the tips.

Get a parts book. You're doing it backwards. Tell the dealer the part number of the item you want, ask the price, then decide if you want to purchase it.

I have a parts book on the way but it will be a week before I get it. I need the part number for the bearing now.

Anyone have the IHC part number for the bearing sitting right behind the brake drum on a 1950 M? Thanks

Copied from McCormick TC-46 parts book

ST 218 Bearing, ball, bull pinion and brake shaft (IH-L-265)

Don't know the significance of the number inside of parenthethies. That may be an optional number.

With bearings, Case IH is very competitive on their price, and is usually cheaper than anyone else. As far as seals are concerned, take the IH part number to NAPA and have them cross them to the national or CR number. NAPA will be about 1/2 the price on seals. Just don't let them substitute a different lip design.

Well I just got the seals that go behind the brake drum on my M and the Case sealer charged me $17 for them. I cross referenced the number and could have got the same seal for a little over $7. Thats why I would like to get the part numbers.

I recently replaced the bearings in my SM tranny. I saved a bundle by going through a CaseIH dealer. Saved well over 50% compared to local repair shops "best price".

This may seem odd but I have gotten some good deals on bearings from the local IH dealer. I usually try to get three quotes on anything over an aggregate of $25.00. Generic items like bearings certainly fit into this category

Most bearings are marked with an identification. But that is not critical. They can be measured and identified with a catalog from a bearing mfg. Or you can just take the bearing to your local bearing house and let them do it.

Parts books are a very good investment. They can be resold later, maybe even for a profit.

Meanwhile, if you describe what you need, someone might get back to you with some numbers.

Take your bearings and seals to any store that sells bearings and seals, and they will give you the right ones just from the OD and ID dimensions.

I was looking for the parts on cd rom, but cannot seem to find it anywhere. Would the old parts books still have numbers that are new enough to cross?
