First I want to humbly say that I realize I am not the only one who suffered severe storm damage, folks in Illinois and Indiana lost homes, farms, businesses...but I did promise to update you , my friends here on YT. We have all the machinery outside, all the buildings shoved into heaps and burned, most of the steel picked up and trucked to recyclers. Today we cleared the last field of debris, mostly wood, rafters, sheeting, etc. I will have a few loads to go to the dump and then there will be only foundations where my two sheds once stood. I am trying to contact some menonnite builders who specialize in barn construction and hope to have the roof on by haying time. The beams are all inplace but the rafters are gone, not a job most roofers are interested in. I never thought we would have it cleaned up in a week. Two of my neighbours have been there every minute that I have, a couple of days we had six helpers, thank God for good neighbours. The house roof will be done starting Monday, a slate roof that takes skilled workers to do. I haven't yet started working on any tractors or machinery. I am getting my local dealer to take the 584 away and fix, I may get them to do the same with the H and the M. The farm looks a little messy with machinery helter skelter and a couple of piles of steel roof sheets, but we have come a long way, the destruction is over and construction should soon begin. I don't anticipate another update, we'll move on knowing everything will be ok, and lastly to you, my friends on YT, thank you for your concern and words of encouragement..... .Mike in Exeter Ontario

Can't help but be reminded of all the posts over the past winter of people squabbling with neighbors over snow plowing and wandering dogs etc. You never know when you are going to need a helping hand and it is sometimes harder to be a good neighbor than to be a bad one. Big dividends down the road for those who take the tougher course.

Michael: Sorry I didn't make it up yesterday. I did go to Bayfield but didn't get there until 9;30 last evening, I figured by that time you would have packed it in and gone home for the day. Next few days aren't shaping up that well for coming up either. I have to go to Toronto in morning, Detroit Mon. morning and Wheatley on Tues. There are 3 of us that all part time this Mack. The other two each crop 500 acres of land, so guess who is full time for next few weeks. Can't complain though, I was able to sit by the fireside back in Jan. and Feb. when the roads were icy.

I will try and make it before the end of week. It is good to hear you have things under control.

Michael,

Glad to hear you are getting things done at a fast pace. Things will never be back to "normal" but it sounds like you will get it fixed up ok. Best of luck to you.

Bob

Hey Mike, Good for you and your neighbors, sounds like you are getting to the otherside of it all ready. It sets a good example for the rest of us. You're right out there busting butt and getting it done. Please take a little time to think about how you want your new structures to work for you. You may have an opportunity now to tweak a few things to make it work better for you. Take care, pace yourself, Jared

Hi Wade, good to hear from you. The interesting thing about getting wiped out by a twister is that it is rare for our area, we don't get hurricanes and tornadoes to the extent that some areas of north America do. Environment Canada said cvery little about this storm, however, its small scale didn't matter as it seems to have been centered over my farm. The path was about a half mile wide and meandered for about 30 miles. There is lots to do but the worst part , the cleanup, is over...take care....Mike in Exeter Ontario
