What are the odds that a stuck wet sleeve C113 or C123 will be a clean up and rings rebuild? Any you guys that have freed up a few have any clues to look for?

I have freed up 2 pasture ornaments. An M and an H. The M was stuck so bad that whenI put a bottle jack under the piston to push it out the top the frontend of the tractor lifted off the ground! No kidding. Needless to say I had to install new sleeves, rings, pistons, and wrist pins in the M due to the extent of rust in the cylinders. The H had sat for 15 years and just took some penetrating oil and a couple dozen swings with a dead blow hammer to hit the pistons out the top. The sleeve needed a light honing and the pistons and rings were in great shape after a thorough cleanup in which I took them apart and inspected them. So, I would say you have a 50/50 chance of a quick honing job versus a complete cylinder rebuild. But like the others have mentioned. If all you do is install new rings, then please maybe try not to use the term 'rebuild'. Hope they come out easy for you and all you need is a light honing! Good luck.

MM: I unstuck a Super C this winter that had been rebuilt, run for a year, and then parked in a shed for 10 years. Had to pull the head and pound the pistons free, but there's been no problems with it running so far. If there's no major rust or broken rings, there's no reason it won't work fine.

It very likely will work but for the sake of honesty do not call this repair a REBUILD if you try to sell it.

I have had the fortune of working on two stuck engines that had recent overhauls just before they were retired and forgotten. All they needed were a good cleaning of the cylinder walls and unsticking of the rings. The engines now run with good compression, no smoke, and good oil pressure.
