I have a 1953 Farmall M. It is not a Super M, just a plain M. I am trying to find out how many of them were made. Can anyone help me with is? I am under the impression this tractor might be rare but I cannot find any resources to back that up.

If you have any info, please email me with "tractor" in the subject so I can distinguish it from spam. My email is obscure@mhtc.net I will also check back here too.

Thanks

It's a 51, X1 means it has a gasoline engine, as opposed to kerosene or distillate.

Why do you believe it is a 1953. Guy Fayes Tractor Data Book don't list any M's made in 1953, but mentions some Super M's made in 1952. Post the serial number

When my husband bought it at the dealership a few years back, he was told it was a 1953, the dealer looked up the serial number. I will get the serial number tomorrow and post it, it's a bit dark now.

In past years, the companies were not very forthcoming with serial number information to outsiders. The dealership organizations and publications came up with their own serial number lists that are rough approximations, lots of errors in them.

Obs: Don't pay a lot of attention to what a dealer told your husband. They quite often recorded when they sold the tractor new. Dealer had my 1953 Super A down as a 1955 model. I suspect that is the year he sold it new. I did not buy this tractor new or from the dealer. One of the first times I went for parts after buying SA, I was informed it was a 1955 Super A. We know those don't exist.
