I wanted to ask you a few questions about your conversion, like what radiator you used, how you mounted the front of the engine(around the hyd pump) let me know. email at redranch300@hotmail.com

Not a problem! In fact, here is what I did. Basicly, you can unbolt a 460, from the rear engine plate, forward, and bolt it into a H rear end. all the frame rails, and engine plate are the same bell housing bolt pattern as the H. all the factory engine mounts from the 460 fit the combine engines, (front) it is a bolt in task!! OK, here is what you have to do for the clutch,, use the 460 flywheel, 460 pressure plate, and a Super H 10.5 clutch disk. The H and Super H, have the same spline on the input shaft, just a larger diameter clutch. and is available in a 3,4 or 6 pad button clutch. OK now the hard part, the starter ring. the 300-350-460 had the same starter ring, and was used for the new style starters, on the H, you have the old style starter, you have to remove the 460 starter ring, machine the flywheel down in the lathe, to fit the H starter ring to the 460 flywheel. it sounds more difficult than it actually is, it took me about 1/2 hr to cut it and fit it. after that, you can use the original starter from the H. You need to use the H pilot bearing in the flywheel, it goes right in! I have a spare 460 flywheel set up for an H starter ring if you want it, All IH parts is used in this conversion! Other than the machine work on the starter ring, it is a direct bolt in as far as the bellhousing, frame rails, front end, etc etc. I could save you all the hassle too, you can buy mine! Anyways, hope this helps, email me if you like at hpuller2001@yahoo.com thanks, Chad

Also, I used the H radiator. The sheet metal on this tractor, is all one piece, and I built a frame for the entire hood to the frame. 6 bolts, 3 wires, and 2 radiator hoses, and the whole entire hood can be removed. In the front behind the grille, I made 2 brackets, top and the bottom, the H radiator has holes already there to mount the fan shroud on, I used those holes, and bolted the radiator to the brackets I made in the grile, and the hood frame. If you like, you can use the original 460 radiator, it just depends on if you pull it, you won't get too light, but would be strong enough to farm with!! LOL the H radiator, full of water, weighed 45 lbs. Hope this helps, Chad

How did you ever figure out that it would all go together, or did you just try it ? I thought that the 4XX tractors were the size of an M. If so, would an M motor fit in a H ?

I don't know how I did it. It just went together so well, once I got started in it, went together like a jig saw puzzle. I have been asked that question before about M engine in a H. HMMMMM ,,,, All I can say at this time is anything is possible, You would have to build a flywheel, I am not sure if the H and M bolt pattern in the crank are the same pattern for the flywheel bolts. The H flywheel can be re drilled for a larger bolt pattern, To fit the M crank, As long as you can mount the rear engine plate to the rear of the M block, make it solid and safe, the frame rails from the 460 can be used to get the side frame rails to clear and bolt up to the front of the M motor mounts, It possibly could be done. The 560, is the same bell housing pattern as the M, the early 460 are the same bell housing as the H-350. To put a 6 cyl in a M, you could unbolt the 560 from the engine plate forward, and bolt it into an M, yes some work may be involved to make the starter work, but the big 560 flywheel will fit into the M bell housing.
