I have a cuple of questions about my H and I hope some one might give a man a hand. It is a FBH-75304. Here are my questions. Does this tractor have wet sleves? What does FBH stand for? Is there a way to tell when this tractor was made by the number FBH-75304? I'm geting some water in the moter oil. Where should I start looking?
Thanks for the help. VanO

The water jacket at each end of the block has expansion plugs fitted. They are covered by the front and rear engine plates. If these plugs corrode water can sometimes seep down into the crankcase. My W4 is out of action at the present moment with this problem.
You may be lucky and have only a leaking head gasket.

Your (H) should be a 1941 Model. If you are getting water in the oil it is most likely that you have a headgasket leaking, or a head that is cracked. The best place to start would be to remove the head and then go from there with what you find. This engine has dry sleeves.

Click on the Serial Numbers link under Research & Info to the left of this page and you will be able to identify the year it was made. The larger cast items also have a date stamped on them. It will be something like 4-20-K where the K is a code for the year. I don't have my list of codes with me here at home but if you check the archives there have been other discussions about this. The FBH is the designation for the the Farmall H. They all had that code. There should be a suffix number after the serial number that identifies some of the options that came on the tractor.

Thanks Randy I'll look for the suffix number and see if I can find it. Where can I find a copy of the list of year code letters?
See-ya round.
