I have a Farmall modle H and some one has painted over the plate with the serial number on it. How can I take off the paint without removing the writing from the plate?
Thanks from VanO

Van O,

You could try elctrolysis, which if done correctly should remove the paint and not bother the plate at all. All you need is a battery charger, a tub, and a little time. Check out

for more info. (I know it is a green page, but this guy is good).

Most paints people use on tractors are low grade enamels. Laquer thinner would most likely wipe it off. Good Luck
