Hugh I know this sounds ignorant but I'm rebuilding a C135 in a 340 Utility. I don't want to split the tractor but can't get the rear main bearing out. Would you just replace the 1st 2 mains and forget about the last one or just not replace any? The tractor wasn't knocking or anything just smoking due to broken skirt on a piston. THANKS!!!

Hunter: With my limited experience my guess is Randy has given you some good advise. It sounds like the kind on advise a professional would give. Quite good reasoning.

I am sure that others will jump in here also. I can't imagine why you would go this far into an engine and not do it right. I definitely would not replace just two of the bearings. If your oil pressure was ok before opening it up I would just leave them all alone. Just my $0.02 worth.
